It has been a while since my last post… almost a year from the aussie camino… and it won’t be long till we do it all over again. In fact, after a few weeks of catching up with family and friends in Europe and visiting Madrid, the Pilgrimage proper starts in Lisbon, destination Santiago de Compostela and beyond to Finistere and Muxia!
A sort of pilgrimage madness seems to have possed me! While walking my first pilgrimage two years ago I was besieged with questions : am I doing the right thing, for the right reasons, will I be able to finish, what am I doing here? Towards the end a desperate fear took hold… I wanted to finish and I was scared I would be cheated of the finish by some misfortune… and then on the last day, I did not want it to end!
I was exhausted, but the road and the journey had another lure..
Who knows, maybe that is the reason for this new venture through Portugal or perhaps it is the realization of all my journeying !
